The CID Casa Murcia Getafe was founded in 1991. In 2003, the Casa de la Región de Murcia in Getafe, a non-profit organization, incorporated the CID Getafe into its structure, preventing its closure. Today, it has become a leading institution, both nationally and internationally, in wheelchair basketball, and a social leader through its activities and initiatives.

From 2003 onwards, several objectives were defined for the Casa Murcia Getafe Sports Integration Club. The most relevant being:

  1. Having a platform, such as wheelchair basketball, that allows people with physical disabilities to participate in sports, promoting their inclusion in society, is a key objective. Achieving gender equality in sports and within the organization is also a crucial part of this goal.
  2. To allow athletes with physical disabilities to practice sport, considering its different variables: Sport as physical activity, sport as a means of inclusion and elite sport.
  3. To promote among society the capacity for normalization and integration of people with physical disabilities, transmitting values based on: work, effort, collaboration, commitment and spirit of overcoming.
